  • A clear job description - which realistically represents the role and function of each position
  • Clear, meaningful, measurable, and agreed-upon goals for every employee
  • Expectations that employees will be accountable to what they have agreed to accomplish
  • A manager or supervisor that communicates well with his/her reports
  • Performance reviews that are sensitive, positive, fair, yet realistic
  • Acknowledgement of effort beyond the expected and acknowledgement of all accomplishments

In order to help each employee reach his or her potential, it is also important to know how to understand each person's uniqueness. Here are some basics that will help you do that:

  • Know their behavioral style
  • Know their values priorities
  • Know their EQ (yes, this score can be increased, and research proves there is a direct correlation between EQ score and performance effectiveness)
